Mark Masonry  OPENING ODE  Mark Masonry

Version 1

Great Overseer, Receive our praise,
And hear when we our voices raise.
To thank Thee for Thy gracious care,
And for the Love all Masons share
Thus may Freemasonry extend,
With Thee, O Lord, its greatest friend;
And fostered by Thy mighty hand,
Built on a Rock for ever stand.

Version 2
Used by Derwent Lodge No 282
Cumberland and Westmorland

Praise the Lord, ye heavens adore Him!
Praise Him angels in the height
Sun and moon rejoice before Him;
Praise Him all ye stars and light.
Praise the Lord, for he hath spoken;
Worlds His mighty voice obeyed!
Laws which never shall be broken,
For their guidance He hath made.

Mark Masonry  MARK MASTERS ALL APPEAR  Mark Masonry

Mark Masters all appear,
Before the Chief O'erseer:
In concert move;
Let him your work inspect,
For the Chief Architect,
If there is no defect,
He will approve.
Those who have passed the Square,
For your rewards prepare,
Join heart and hand.
Each with his mark in view,
March with the just and true;
Wages to you are due,
At your command.
Now to the westward move,
Where full of strength and love,
Hiram doth stand!
But if imposters are
Caution them to beware
Of the right hand.

Mark Masonry  CLOSING ODE  Mark Masonry

When Wisdom, Strength and Beauty raised
A Temple to our Lord,
Wherein His Holy Name was praised
And piously adored..
Our Ancient Brethren closer drew
Those cords of love divine,
Which bound the hearts of Masons true
Since Light began to shine..
May Faith in God, and Hope in Him,
With Charity to all,
Still give to Masons power to win
Those joys that cannot pall.
So mote it be

Mark Masonry  DERWENT MARK LODGE SONG  Mark Masonry

Oh - we are the Derwent Mark Masons,
Our number is two eighty two,
With fair work and square,
We the keystone prepare,
And our ashlars are quite perfect too;
In our labours we aim at perfection,
And when the lost stone has been found,
We entrust with our signs and our secrets,
Our Brother, then downstairs we’re bound.

Chorus:
Greeting ……………. at our Master’s call,
Grand Lodge to Provincial, we honour them all,
Heed Charity’s call; give to each man his due,
We’re Derwent Mark Masons Lodge two eighty two;
Oh, we’ll work ------ then relax,
We all do our best when we’re put to the test,
We’re alright and this night
You’re in jolly fine company.

Our Master’s a very fine Mason,
Keeps traditions and landmarks in view,
Whilst his wardens, with care,
For their labours prepare,
When, to brethren, the wages are due;
The Overseers test all materials,
And ensure that each stone is sound,
While the Deacons with pride and precision,
Step by step lead the candidate round.

Chorus:
Greeting ……………. at our Master’s call,
Grand Lodge to Provincial, we honour them all,
Heed Charity’s call; give to each man his due,
We’re Derwent Mark Masons Lodge two eighty two;
Oh, we’ll work ------ then relax,
We all do our best when we’re put to the test,
We’re alright and this night
You’re in jolly fine company.
