In July of 1994 the Musuem was Officially opend by the Right Worshipful Brother John Hale, Provincial Grand Master of the Cumberland and Westmorland Province.

The Ashcroft Museum was originally Founded and built by W. Bro. B. W. Thompson and W. Bro. J. G. Strong and assisted by the late W. Bro. J. J. Pape.

The Museum was named after the late Bro Tom Ashcroft of Curwen Lodge, No. 1400.  He was a Schoolteacher and he never 'went through the Chair'.  He was a dedicated Freemason, a great Historian on the subject of Masonry and from his vast amount of research he produced many Masonic lectures.  It was his idea to produce the Freemasonry in Cumberland and Westmorland booklet, part way through producing it he died and W. Bro Ken Bond continued with it.

The Ashcroft Masonic Museum is located at :
