TOAST TO THE VISITORS (3)

Now here's a Visitor's Toast sincere
and dedicated to all sat here
To those from the villages and from the Towns
and further beyond our Provincial bounds

To those from maybe further afield
and have just discovered St. Bega's appeal
To those who appear on every occasion of note
I'm sure their soon to be given the vote

To those who come to see the work
to those who come and maybe smirk
to those who come for friendships sake
to those who come new friends to make

To those who come to watch, and saw
what happened to them the night before
To those who worry where to sit
and where they can find to leave their kit

To those who come early for a drink at the bar
only to find we've maybe gone too far
and we haven't got here till the work is done
so next time ... you don't have to run

To those who like the happy mood
and those who like St. Bega's food
To those who have never been before
and may worry what lies behind the door

To those with replies they've yet to write
well ... we try to shed a little light
by making a few but deliberate errors
taking away more erudite terrors

To those who came to gain a hint
of where to hide that Polo Mint
to those that came and under their breath
repeated chunks of verse at length

To those who by their presence make
a better memory to take
away with all of us this night
and trust we never forget the plight
of absent Brethren who can never be
a guest of you....... or you....... or me.
